Classic Recordings: Teddy Pendergrass (Debut Album)

This is my favorite TP album. Oh, he had plenty of hits with Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes and many more in his solo career, but this debut album raised the bar, in my opinion. People started taking notice of this brother who made the ladies lose their minds! When he followed up with “Life is a Song Worth Singing” and “Teddy“, it was over – TP was the King of R&B & the world was at his feet. As a youth,  I remember reading a New York Times piece on how women would fling their lingerie on stage at his concerts &  that kinda made me want to be a singer too….Of course, things didn’t work out the way I planned…
